What to ask your veterinarian
Discuss dental health, previous injuries, age, medication and any history of swallowing objects. Ask whether the dog should avoid hard chews. Cornell's veterinary guide explains that chewing hard objects can damage teeth. Product grade and natural origin cannot establish clinical suitability.
What to ask your trainer
- What behavior are we trying to address?
- Does the dog gnaw, crush, tear or swallow?
- How can we trade away an item without conflict?
- Would another supervised activity meet the same need?
- What changes should we record before the next session?
Ask the trainer to explain their qualifications and method. A training session cannot replace a dental examination. Tell both professionals if the dog guards objects, shows pain or swallows pieces.
Keep a simple observation record
Record the date, item used, session length, behavior and reason you stopped. Add photos of wear when useful. This describes your own dog's experience. It cannot predict a lifespan or establish safety for another dog.
Check the product details
